About Maverick Development
Three decades of project scheduling expertise, global partnerships, and a simple belief: the best software comes from listening to the people who use it every day.
Talk to UsOur Story
What began in 1995 as one developer's ambition to build a project scheduler that could stand alongside Microsoft Project grew into something far larger than anyone anticipated.
Lotus Development Corporation recognized the potential early and struck a deal to embed Maverick Project Scheduler directly inside Lotus Notes — bringing serious Gantt chart scheduling and critical path management to one of the world's most widely deployed enterprise platforms. When IBM acquired Lotus, the partnership carried forward and Maverick's enterprise reach expanded with it.
Around the same time, Visio Corporation licensed Maverick to ship embedded within Visio templates, putting the scheduling engine alongside the industry's leading diagramming tool. When Microsoft later acquired Visio, that relationship grew as well — placing Maverick Project Scheduler alongside two of the most recognized names in enterprise software.
Rather than scaling those partnerships into a venture-backed growth company, Maverick Development stayed focused. Growth came from customers. Features were added because working project managers asked for them — teams in construction, engineering, healthcare, and information technology who needed a scheduler that could keep up with their real projects. Releases came when they were ready. Support came from people who actually built the software.
The platform moved to the web in 2005. The native Windows client never went away — it still ships today for teams that rely on it. More recently, AI-assisted scheduling arrived: an integrated chat interface that builds and updates project plans through conversation, backed by the large language model provider of your choice. The scheduling engine underneath hasn't changed its discipline: forward pass, backward pass, critical path — the same logic that makes a schedule trustworthy.
Today, Maverick Project Scheduler is in active use in more than twenty countries, including teams across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Far East. The development team stays small, the customer relationships stay direct, and the focus stays on the product.
